Invalid login details entered

Error message ‘invalid user name or password’ appears when a user enters:

  • An invalid username for the valid password entered
  • An invalid password for the valid username entered
  • Both an invalid username and password combination

Both the user name and password for a user are case sensitive.  Get user to check their caps lock button is off and if applicable their numeric keypad num lock is on.

If user is still unable to login successfully then their password will need to be reset.

Resetting password

The user can either do this by clicking on forgotten password and submitting their own email address or as an admin user on the site you can reset their password for them.

Please note that in order to be able to supply a reset password via the login screen there can only be one instance of the email address in the user setup.  Where multiple users with the same email address exist in Multichannel the password will need to be reset from within Admin – User / Team Setup.  A user with rights to Admin – User / Team Setup will have to reset the password.

In Admin à User/Team Setup edit the username that you want to reset the password on, screen displays;

Click on , you will be prompted ‘are you sure you want to reset the password’, click OK.  The screen will display the new temporary password for the user;

You can either read the password out to the user (remember text is case sensitive).  Alternatively you can highlight the text, copy and paste it in to an external email for the user.

The password issued is a temporary password and the first time it is used in Multichannel the user will be prompted to enter a permanent password for their login.
