Email Marketing Module

The email marketing module (when enabled) allows for all broadcasts to be tracked and summarised (both graphically and numerically). The campaign dashboard statistics are only applicable to outbound emails that are sent via a broadcast.  At any time during and after the broadcast a snapshot in terms of the number of recipients, the successful deliveries, opens, clicked links, unsubscribes, replies by category, throughput rate, bounced email details can be monitored / viewed.

Email marketing statistics can be viewed by clicking on the Campaign Dashboard  icon;

  1. Snapshot Tab

Screen displays;

The snapshot tab gives details on;

  • Name
  • The ‘Name’ of the broadcast as per Step One – Define your broadcast and the header page for all broadcasts
  • Processed
  • If the broadcast is processing displays the percentage (and x of y values) of broadcast members that have been processed.  Note this is the number of people in the customer group and the percentage figure is in relation to the number of group members processed and not necessarily a reflection of the messages that have been generated.
  • Current Status
  • The current status of the applicable campaign broadcast.
  • Draft: broadcast message wizard has been partially completed. With this status the broadcast can be stopped/cancelled or edited.
  • Pending: broadcast message wizard has been completed and the broadcast message is waiting for the scheduled send time or is initiating the send. By selecting the Pause icon you may edit the pending broadcast.
  • Processing: broadcast message wizard has been completed and the broadcast message is in the process of sending. By selecting the Pause icon you may then edit/change the broadcast, by selecting the Cancel icon you can cancel the broadcast.
  • Processed: broadcast message wizard has been completed. The broadcast has finished processing messages to all people in the group.
  • Cancelled: the broadcast has been cancelled.
  • Timed Out: when the cut off date has been exceeded without all messages being sent.
  • View Campaign
  • Click on  to be taken to step one of the broadcast. Note in order to return back to the campaign dashboard you will either click on back  in your internet explorer toolbar or exit the broadcast wizard and click on the  campaign broadcast icon again
  • Opens and Clicks  ‘X’ hours
  • The campaign dashboard settings in Admin à Settings à Broadcast determines the graph range (the number of hours reported for the broadcast) and the graph interval (the number in minutes for plotting the opens and clicks).
  • Stats
  • Numbers and percentages relating to the messages from your broadcast that were physically sent. Also values relating to the messages that were delivered and actions carried out by the recipients
  • Messages Sent
  • This is the total of the messages that were created by the Broadcast and sent to the email recipients.  For example; of the 10 broadcast members there was 1 inactive customer and 2 customers whose email addresses were uncontactable.
  • Messages Delivered
  • The total number of messages from the broadcast that were successfully delivered emails.  This is not a read receipt figure.  The percentage is delivered messages / messages sent.
  • The total number of messages from the broadcast that were unsuccessful emails.  That is they were bounced messages.  The percentage is (bounced messages / messages sent).
  • The total number of messages from the broadcast that were successfully delivered.  This is not a read receipt figure.
  • Of the total messages delivered to an email address this is how many (and the percentage) of the receivers opened the email.  It is derived using unique opens only. Please note that this count is not always incremented. It is dependant on a recipient looking at the email as html text version and those that have images enabled. If the recipient looks at the plain text version or has images disabled then we will not receive an ‘opened’ notification.
  • Basically if you send an email broadcast and the recipient allows for images to be displayed then we will receive the notification back in to Multichannel that the recipient has opened their email. This is a unique count and appears under 'opened' on the initial Campaign Dashboard screen. The value on the opened button reflects unique opens. If you click on the number of opens then you will see the count of how many times each recipient has opened the email.
  • If the recipient allows the image to be displayed (basically they answer yes to the security block question) then this will also add a unique count of 1 open to same field on campaign dashboard.
  • If the recipient does not allow the image to be displayed (ignores the security block question) or they do not view the email in html text version form then we will not receive a notification back. This is totally beyond our control.
  • If the email recipient allows for us to be informed of the opens then we are recording it within the Campaign Dashboard.
  • Of the total messages delivered to an email address this is how many (and the percentage) of the receivers replied to the email. It is derived using unique replies only.
  • Of the total messages delivered to an email address this is how many (and the % percentage) of the receivers who clicked on a tracked URL  link contained within the email. It is derived using unique clicks per email address – that is 3 tracked URL ’s may exist in the email and a single customer may click on all 3 but the count here will only be 1.
  • Of the total messages delivered to an email address this is how many (and the percentage) of the receivers who clicked on an unsubscribe link contained within the email. It is derived using unique clicks per email address – that is 3 unsubscribe links may exist in the email and a single customer may click and unsubscribe on all 3 but the count here will only be 1.
  • Pie Chart representation of the unique opened emails, bounced email, and emails that have not been opened to date
  • Column Graph that shows the number of and applicable category of any reply received as a result of a campaign broadcast.   The values are the total number of replies rather than the unique replies per email recipient.  In this example there have been 3 replies but only 2 unique email addresses have replied.
  • Line graph that shows the rate at which Multichannel generated the messages for this broadcast.
  • The single  appears when the broadcast is completed in less than 1 hour (the first example)
  • Any graph with a start and finish line (the second example) are for broadcasts that either due to the volume of messages being sent or the sending rates specified on the broadcast itself have resulted in a throughput rate across a given time period.  This example was for a broadcast that only ran between 11.40am and 15.40pm and the messages per hour were set to a maximum of 20 per hour and there were 100+ broadcast members.
